Quintacolor

A resplendent neoclassical puzzle game. Draw a line through 5 blocks, each of a different color, to clear them. Don't let the board fill up all the way to the top. Comment below with your high score!

Best played in Chrome. Works okay in Firefox. Doesn't work so hot in Internet Explorer.

Instructions

  • Adjacent blocks of the same color will fuse together, making them easier to clear, but potentially cluttering the board. Clear them quickly to keep a good mix of colors present all over the board.
  • Clearing large clusters fills your meter; click it or press the space bar to settle the board and fill up those nasty gaps. It also stops blocks from falling for a short time. It automatically activates if you're about to lose.
  • The longer you play, the higher your multiplier gets, and the more points you earn for everything.
  • More pieces will start to fall when the board is less than half full, and the most will fall when the board is empty. Use this to score lots of points early on.
  • Multiple matches in quick succession will net you combo points. The longer your streak, the higher the bonus gets!

The high score is 638,355, by me.

45765, cool idea. Seemed very loose at first but it gets more interesting as bigger blocks get made. Whats the "Ford" version though?

I have no idea what everyone else is getting and I'm not, the logic doesn't make sense to me. How the hell does connecting these work? The color of the selection line doesn't seem to matter, because I'll try to connect a bunch and have a white line and not get it to match. The line turns red after an arbitrary length. Please, what am I not getting?

maybe its that the line must always be 5 squares long, and include every one of each 5 colors? That tripped me up at first too

Like the Ford Version better. How is the full board bonus calculated on Ford?

I'm glad you like the Ford version better! It was based on this one. The full board bonus is something like: the maximum number of empty spaces on the board since the last time it was full, times some multiplier. Do you like that mechanic? I was considering getting rid of it in the upcoming mobile version.

Is there a threshold? I feel sometimes I don’t get that bonus. Or what is the formula? I like it because it give an extra goal at some stage of the game. 

any plans to release this as a phone game? Love it in our Ford.

Excellent!  Very frustrating

So I think this game is great and I love the music but I was wondering if there was anywhere I could find at least the title screen music. If anyone can find it I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the video! The title menu music is still playing on top of gameplay even in 1.0.1, huh... thought I had fixed that... What operating system/browser are you on?

And yeah, I'll make the text on the meter darker. It's pretty hard to see.
